Ok, bye will take place in Kolaportið May 16th from 9:00-12:00 and is included in the Iceland Innovation Week Festival Pass

Every year, “Ok, bye” chooses a different theme to dig deeper into.

The theme 2024 is:

Waste

Tackling waste is important. It impacts our daily lives in various ways, influencing both individual well-being and the broader environment. Improperly managed waste leads to pollution of air, water and soil, deeply affecting the quality of the environment we live in. It can disrupt ecosystems and harm wildlife, not to mention the depletion of resources, costs and emissions. Waste has far-reaching implications and affects nearly every sector of society.

That is why we must address these topics and act quickly to accelerate climate action.

We invite you to travel to an Icelandic wasteland characterised by glass, plastic, metal, textile, electronics, construction and organic waste. In these discarded fragments, founders, investors, thought leaders and artists will share their vision on the future of waste and how we can drive a positive change. Topics will include: disruptive waste management, circular economy, innovative materials and packaging, policy and advocacy for sustainable waste practices, future of food and more. Ok, bye is a part of Iceland Innovation Week.

We work closely with our main partners David Helgason and Transition Labs which partner's with the highest impact climate projects from around the world. The aim is to establish Iceland as the centre of discussion on climate change and innovation. The name 'Ok, bye' refers to the first Icelandic glacier lost to climate change, Ok-jökull. The former glacier once covered 16sq km but has melted to a fraction, and is no longer considered a glacier, but just another boring mountain.

Thanks, global warming.
